It all begins with an impossible situation. Her work moves from a desire to create utopic, often monumental
projects, to a longing to build and a longing to destroy. The defining characteristics of her work — which include
in situ installations, videos, drawings, photographs - are verticality, a constant connection with the ground:
an inverted tree, a hanging chandelier dripping with wax, a lump of soot blackening stairs as it rolls down ...
Substance escapes, pours out and invades the space.
Aurore Scotet’s work is to build and film actions. Her creations have a raw quality: videos in the form of sequence
shots with very little or no editing at all.
The world exists only by dinsintegrating, it has only consistency in the continual metamorphosis.
